Wild Blueberry Plants
Wild Blueberry Plants
Wild blueberries in your own garden! The lowbush blueberry, or wild blueberry, is a cold hardy, deciduous shrub native to North America. Its bell-shaped spring flowers are followed by small, sweet, very flavourful blue berries, loved for their antioxidant content and nutritional value. The combination of intense flavour and low water content make lowbush blueberries ideal for baking and preserves. The only thing better than blueberry pie, is wild blueberry pie!
Lowbush blueberries like full to partial sunlight, and tolerate poor soil and moderate drought, making them ideal for wild gardens and natural landscapes. They form dense, productive colonies that can yield berries for many years.
Blueberries thrive in acidic soil with good drainage, so prepare and amend your planting location ahead of time. We sell an organic soil acidifier that can be added to your soil to gradually reduce the pH.
Be sure to see our blog post: Why Blueberries Need Acidic Soil to Thrive.
