Salmonberry Plants
Salmonberry Plants
A native, deciduous, woody perennial that is related to raspberries and features orange or red berries on tall, branching stems. Salmonberry fruits are juicy, with a mild, sweet flavour, and can be eaten fresh or preserved. The leaves of this bramble can be made into tea and the young shoots peeled and eaten like asparagus.
The colourful berries in early summer are preceded by equally colourful, bright pink flowers in early spring, a favourite source of food for hummingbirds and native bees.
