Alpine strawberries, also called Woodland strawberries, are delicate strawberries native to B.C. and known for their sweetness and intense strawberry flavour. These small berries have the flavour of five garden strawberries condensed into one small, soft, wild berry.
In addition to being semi-evergreen, Alpine strawberries are everbearing, producing flowers and fruit from late spring through fall. Fruit are born above the plants on long stems, keeping the berries above the soil, and ground-dwelling pests.
Alpine strawberries do not produce runners, but will naturally self seed if encouraged. They make an excellent groundcover under fruit trees, as they can tolerate part shade.
Alpine strawberries are a great addition to any food garden and are very popular amongst those who have tried them!
