'Hargrand' Semi-Dwarf Apricot

'Hargrand' is a cold-hardy apricot cultivar bred in Canada and prized for its exceptionally large fruit and excellent eating quality. The fruit has firm, fine-textured, juicy flesh with a rich, sweet flavour and a freestone pit, making it excellent for fresh eating as well as preserves, baking and canning. Thinning developing fruit can help produce particularly large apricots.

Bred at the Harrow Research Station in Ontario, Hargrand was selected for performance in a northern climate. Trees are vigorous and productive, with attractive spring blossoms that provide early forage for pollinators. Hargrand blooms relatively late for an apricot, which can help it avoid some late spring frosts, and the fruit ripens in mid to late summer.

Trees grow best in full sun in a warm, well-drained location.
