Rugosa roses have the largest rose hips, making them an ideal shrub for those who enjoy collecting rose hips each fall. Intensely fragrant flowers, with a wonderful, classic rose scent, ideal for rose waters and tinctures. These deciduous shrubs are attractive to bees and the prickly branches provide good habitat for songbirds.

Origin: Species from Eastern Asia, cultivar from the Netherlands in 1905.
Noteworthy: Very hardy. Richly-coloured, dark pink flowers. Heavily scented. Disease resistant.
Using rose hips: The inner hairs and seeds of rose hips should be removed before consuming. They were the original itching powder!
