Honeyberry (Haskap) Plants
Honeyberry (Haskap) Plants
Originating from northern regions, the Honeyberry, also known as Haskap or Blue Honeysuckle, is an incredibly cold-hardy, deciduous shrub with edible, blue berries.
Honeyberries are one of the first fruits to ripen in spring, often before strawberries, providing a fresh, early source of fruit. The elongated, deep blue berries have a unique, sweet-tart flavour similar to blueberries but with notes of blackberry and grape. They are rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.
Once established, honeyberries are low-maintenance, disease-resistant and not prone to pest issues. Long-lived, they can produce fruit for 50-75 years, forming dense shrubs that yield a consistent harvest.
Honeyberries can be enjoyed fresh, frozen, or used in various recipes, from jams and jellies to pies, smoothies and wine. Their distinctive flavour adds a unique twist to traditional berry recipes.
This hardy berry is a unique choice for any gardener looking to expand their fruit collection.
