'Early Fuyu' persimmon tree is a reliable, early-ripening, female cultivar of Asian persimmon, known for its crisp, sweet fruit and adaptability to a range of climates, including cool summers.
This non-astringent variety ripens in late October to early November, about one to two weeks before standard Fuyu types. Unlike astringent persimmons, Early Fuyu can be eaten while still firm, making it ideal for fresh snacking, salads, or drying without waiting for full softness.
The tree grows to 12–20 feet tall, with a rounded, spreading habit and attractive form, though it lacks the dramatic fall foliage of some other varieties.
Self-fertile and hardy to Zone 7, Early Fuyu performs well in coastal and southern British Columbia, especially in sunny, sheltered sites.
Our female 'Early Fuyu' persimmon trees are grafted and will produce fruit without a male Asian persimmon nearby for cross pollination. And, without a male nearby, fruit will be seedless, which is preferred.
