A very attractive true mint (Mentha spp.) with dark green, oval leaves on iridescent purple stems. This variety has a fruity, blackcurrant aroma and lovely, balanced mint flavour. Between the dark green leaves and wonderful flavour and aroma, Blackcurrant Mint makes a fabulous tea.
Blackcurrant Mint shines above other mints, as it still looks dark green and healthy at the end of the season, while other mints are often fading.
This variety has a strong growth habit and will spread if allowed. We grow ours in pots, on stepping stones, to control its spread.
Purple flowers on tall stalks act as beacons to pollinators all summer long, making mint a perfect garden flower and herb.
