Edible pomegranates - nutritious and delicious, these pomegranates produce fruit the size and quality of those sold in grocery stores.
The pomegranate is a deciduous shrub that can produce from a young age. Bright orange flowers cover them all spring, and they have good disease and pest resistance.
Varieties:
'Sweet'
- Full-grown size: 6-12' tall
- Notes: Large, edible fruit are green with a red blush. Sweeter than most varieties, even when underripe. Virtually seedless. High quality.
'Wonderful'
- Full-grown size: 8-12' tall
- Notes: Large, red, edible fruit. Most common variety grown - it's the variety sold in grocery stores. High quality.
'Salavatski'
- Full-grown size: 10-12' tall
- Notes: Medium to large pale red edible fruit. Most cold hardy variety. High quality.
All varieties can be grown in containers, which would keep them smaller in size. With pruning, they can be grown as a tree or shrub.
