Mango? Banana? Pineapple? Custard? It's hard to pin the flavour! A tropical fruit for the north. Pawpaws are the only member of the custard apple family adapted for living in our climate. High yielding, nutritious fruit are 3-6" long, on these named cultivars known for producing exceptional fruit.
Pawpaws are deciduous trees used to growing in a forest. As such, they are used to shade when they are young, with increasing exposure to sun as they mature and get taller. Provide shade to your young trees for the first couple years. You can do this by choosing an appropriate location, like behind a fence where it will get more light as it gets taller, or by building a temporary shade screen.
The trees for sale here are grafted cultivars (not seed grown). They are already 30-36" tall and will see significant growth this year.
