Olympian Fig is an outstanding cold-hardy variety that reliably produces some of the largest and sweetest figs available. Discovered in Olympia, Washington, this heirloom variety is perfect for the Pacific Northwest and other cooler regions. The fruit is very large, purple-skinned, and richly sweet with strawberry-coloured flesh, making it excellent for fresh eating, preserves, and drying.
Trees are naturally compact, typically reaching 8–10 ft tall, and can be grown either in the ground or in containers. Olympian is hardy to Zone 7 (–18°C) and potentially colder with some protection. Often fruits even on new wood, giving reliable crops in shorter growing seasons. With its combination of cold tolerance, ease of culture, and exceptional flavour, Olympian is one of the best choices for gardeners seeking dependable figs in northern climates.
