Cold-hardy passionfruit (Passiflora incarnata) is the most cold-hardy edible passionfruit, producing fragrant, intricate purple flowers in summer and egg-sized yellow, edible fruit in late summer to early fall.

Native to the southeastern United States, this vigorous perennial vine thrives in full sun, regrowing each spring even in cold climates (-28ºC).

The aromatic, sweet-tart pulp is delicious fresh, in drinks, or for jam, while the flowers draw bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.

Though self-fertile, they will produce better with cross-pollination from another variety of cold-hardy passionfruit, or a seed-grown cold-hardy passionfruit.

They will spread moderately by underground runners if allowed.
