Size

The Izu persimmon is a compact, early-ripening variety of Japanese persimmon, prized for its sweet, non-astringent fruit and naturally small size. Reaching just 8 to 12 feet tall, Izu is ideal for small gardens, urban backyards, or even large containers. Its crisp, flavourful fruit ripens earlier than most other persimmons—often by mid to late fall—making it a reliable choice in areas with shorter growing seasons.

This low-maintenance tree thrives in Zones 7–10 and offers excellent ornamental value with glossy green foliage and vibrant orange fruit that hangs on the branches into fall.

Izu persimmon trees are self-fertile, sp you only need one tree to enjoy a harvest.

Whether you're growing it for fresh eating, drying, or simply to admire its beauty in the garden, Izu persimmon is a delicious and unique addition to any edible landscape.
