The English walnut is notable for its versatility and the high quality of both its nuts and wood, making it a valuable tree in both agricultural and woodworking contexts.
Carpathian walnut is an Old World walnut species native to the Carpathian Mountains in Eastern Europe. It is more cold hardy than other English walnut varieties and produces thin-shelled, easily-cracked, very flavourful nuts. It grows 40-60' tall and trees should be spaced 20' apart. Nuts ripen September-October.
Manregion walnut comes from Northeastern China and grows to only 20' tall. Nuts ripen in October.
