Boysenberry Plants
Boysenberry Plants
Boysenberries are believed to be a cross between loganberries, raspberries and blackberries, in California in the 1920's. These are large brambles with trailing vines. The fruit are larger than most raspberries and blackberries and their flavour is complex, rich, and generally sweeter than a blackberry. Plan to support the canes with a trellis or tie them up against a fence.
Boysenberries, like other brambles, make great jams and sauces. The fruit have thin skins and spoil quickly after picking, so plan to enjoy or preserve them within 24 hours of harvest.
Though not completely thornless, this "thornless" variety has much smaller thorns than a typical blackberry.
