Blackcurrant Cuttings

Blackcurrant cuttings ready for rooting. We have two varieties available: 'Tiben' and 'Ben Nevis.' 

Blackcurrant cuttings are very easy to root. If you've wanted to try growing a plant from a cutting, this is a great one to start with. 

You can root them in water, a grow medium like potting mix or perlite, or right in the garden. The cuttings can be stored in the fridge until you are ready to use them.

All cuttings have been prepped for rooting. They have been trimmed at the right locations for maximum rooting potential, sanitized in 3% hydrogen peroxide (food safe), and the top end has been dipped in wax to seal it and conserve moisture.

Each package comes with 4 cuttings of 'Tiben' or 'Ben Nevis'. We have two varieties available because that can result in increased pollination, but you only need one variety to get fruit.

These are newer varieties with fruit that is larger, plumper and sweeter than older varieties. Sweet enough to eat right off the bush!

The fruit on these varieties ripen all at the same time, so you can pick all the berries on the same day, with a berry scoop (so easy!), and make a big batch of blackcurrant jam! Yum! Or Creme de Cassis. Or blackcurrant syrup. Or blackcurrant jelly. Or freeze them. Or dehydrate them. So many options for these beautiful, flavourful berries.
