Yuzu Ichandrin is one of the hardiest citrus varieties available, making it an excellent choice for gardeners in cooler regions. A hybrid of Yuzu and Ichang papeda, this small tree produces highly aromatic, seedy yellow fruits in late autumn that are prized for zest, preserves, and specialty drinks. Unlike sweeter citrus, the appeal lies in its fragrance and tang rather than fresh eating.
In spring, its fragrant white blossoms attract bees and other pollinators, adding ornamental and ecological value to the garden. With its compact size, glossy evergreen foliage, and impressive cold tolerance down to Zone 8, Yuzu Ichandrin offers both beauty and resilience while extending citrus growing into regions where lemons and limes won’t thrive.
