'Fall Gold' Everbearing Raspberry Plants
'Fall Gold' Everbearing Raspberry Plants
Sweet, golden berries in the summer and again in the fall! Fall Gold is an everbearing variety of raspberry. That means it grows new canes and those canes fruit at the top in the fall. If left to overwinter, those canes will produce fruit on the lower portion of those canes early the next summer, before regular (summer-bearing) red raspberries are ripe. That gives you one crop each summer and one each fall.
Yellow raspberries are less acidic than red raspberries, so they taste sweeter. They are also ignored by birds who think the berries simply aren't ripe yet, leaving more for you to enjoy. We grow this variety in our own garden and highly recommend it.
Pruning care: Let canes grow up and fruit in the fall. Leave them to overwinter. Let them fruit again the following summer. Then remove those canes in the fall. That means every fall you will be removing 2-year-old canes and leaving the canes that just grew.
